Sungrow - Hybrid SH

Hybrid Inverter Connection Guide for the Sungrow Hybrid SH

Written by Marija Gelmanovska

Before you start

Before you begin, make sure:

  • The inverter is physically installed and powered on

  • You have the Sungrow WiNet-S or WiNet-S2 communication module

  • The iSolarCloud app is installed on your device

  • You have an iSolarCloud account (End-User or Installer account)

  • All assets (inverter, WiNet-S or WiNet-S2 communication module) are updated to the latest software version

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Connect the inverter to the network

  1. Connect the WiNet module to the WLAN port on the inverter

  2. Connect the module to your local network via Ethernet cable

  3. Verify the connection is established by checking the LED WiNet module

For network infrastructure requirements and troubleshooting, see Infrastructure requirements for the gateway.

2. Access the inverter settings

  1. Open the iSolarCloud app

  2. Follow the instructions to complete the inverter setup and communication module in the App

3. Enable communication via Modbus

  1. Navigate to:
    SettingsDevice

  2. Select the communication module and navigate to Settings

  3. Configure the following Common parameters settings:

    • Modbus TCP 502 port on/off: Open

  4. Apply the settings

4. Discover the inverter in the commissioning wizard

The inverter is now ready for the commissioning wizard. The gateway will scan the network to find available devices, which may take a few minutes. Once complete, the Sungrow inverter will appear on the results page.

When the inverter is detected, in most cases set the asset type to Hybrid (PV and Battery) from the dropdown.

If you are using the inverter exclusively as a PV inverter, select PV System. If it is used solely as a battery inverter, choose Battery.

Country-specific configurations

Germany

Applies to PV installations exceeding 2 kWp installed after February 24, 2025.

For detailed information refer to §9 EEG (2025) – 60% feed-in limitation

No additional inverter configuration is required. The inverter controls the grid feed-in limit directly (GCP Limit), supporting energy management optimization.

Energy management settings are configured automatically based on the inverter model. No manual changes are needed in the commissioning wizard.

Additional Information

Multiple inverters (outside Germany or retrofit cases)

If you have multiple inverters at one location:

  • Only one inverter can have a battery and meter

  • Connect each inverter to the network with its own WiNet module

  • Don't use RS-485 connections between inverters

  • Don't configure as master-slave (not compatible with the gateway)

This also works when pairing SH0.5RT - SH10RT with SGxxRT series in retrofit setups.

FAQ

Why isn't the inverter appearing in the commissioning wizard?

Check that the WiNet module is connected to the WLAN port and your network via Ethernet. Verify Modbus TCP port 502 is enabled in the iSolarCloud app. Restart the gateway and wait for the network scan to complete.

How do I update the firmware of the inverter?

You can perform the update through the iSolarCloud app.
For detailed update instructions, refer to the official Sungrow documentation.

What if I cannot access the Modbus settings via the iSolarCloud app?

As an alternative, the settings can also be configured via the iSolarCloud O&M management platform. You can also access the inverter settings directly through the WiNet module hotspot:

  1. Press the multifunction button on the WiNet module 3 times to start the hotspot

  2. Connect your phone or computer to the WiFi network

  3. Navigate to https://11.11.11.1

  4. Navigate to:
    Forwarding configuration

  5. Configure the following Modbus settings:

    • Modbus Port: 502

    • SSL Encryption: disabled

  6. Save the settings

Note: SSL encryption must be disabled because the gateway uses unencrypted Modbus TCP.

What WiNet versions work?

  • WiNet-S with firmware WINET-SV200.001.00.P027.B002 or later

  • WiNet-S2 with firmware WINET-SV300.001.03.P014.B001 or later

Can I use master-slave mode?

No, master-slave via RS-485 doesn't work with the gateway. For multiple inverters, connect each one individually with its own WiNet module.

What are the factory default login credentials?

The factory default credentials are:

  • Username:admin

  • Password:pw8888

What if I have forgotten the password?

Refer to the manufacturer's documentation for reset instructions.
