This article explains what the GOPACS Capacity Steering Contract (CSC) integration is, how it works, and how to configure it for a site in the Netherlands.
What is the GOPACS CSC integration?
GOPACS is the Dutch platform for congestion management. With a Capacity Steering Contract (CSC), a Charge Point Operator (CPO) agrees to have the grid connection capacity of a site reduced during periods of grid congestion. In return, the CPO can increase the average grid connection capacity of the site.
The EVCI integration receives the capacity limits from GOPACS and applies them to the site automatically, so the site stays within the agreed limits.
How does the GOPACS CSC integration work?
When GOPACS activates a CSC for a site, XENON creates the corresponding limits as power limit schedules on the system. These schedules are applied like any other power limit schedule.
Key behavior:
Each GOPACS limit is created as a power limit schedule with the naming scheme
gopacs-EAN-DATE-SCHEDULE_NUMBERThe site is identified by its GOPACS EAN, which is configured on the system
GOPACS credentials are stored per XENON account and are encrypted
What are the requirements for the GOPACS CSC integration?
The system must be located in the Netherlands
There must be a GOPACS capacity steering contract for the site and the site must have a GOPACS EAN
GOPACS client credentials (Client ID and Client secret) issued for the XENON account
How do I configure the GOPACS CSC integration?
Step 1: Configure the UFTP settings in GOPACS
In your GOPACS account, go to the UFTP settings
Under Method to use for CSC activations, select Use the GOPACS Pull API
Enable I allow GOPACS to handle CSC activations automatically
Click Save changes
Step 2: Add the GOPACS credentials in XENON
In the XENON Dashboard, go to the account settings of the account that contains your GOPACS systems
Under GOPACS credentials, click Add credentials
Enter the Client ID and Client secret that GOPACS issued for this account, then click Save credentials
Once saved, the credentials can be replaced or deleted. The Client secret is encrypted and cannot be viewed again. Only the Client ID and the date of the last update remain visible.
Step 3: Enter the GOPACS EAN on the system
Open the system that has a Capacity Steering Contract and go to Edit System Settings
Make sure the Country is set to Netherlands
Enter the GOPACS EAN of the connection. Leave the field empty to disable GOPACS for this system.
For active and upcoming activations, the GOPACS limits appear in the Power Limit Schedules of the system. Note that GOPACS does not always activate a limit. In that case, no schedule is shown.
What are the limitations of the GOPACS CSC integration?
Only systems in the Netherlands are supported
The GOPACS schedules can be edited and deleted like other power limit schedules. Handle them with care and do not edit or delete them manually.
